As evidence that Harris has become heavily invested in science, Scientific American described how the politician has promoted various initiatives in the fields of science throughout his career.
“As a senator, Harris supported a concerted effort to improve the diversity of the science, technology, engineering and medicine (STEM) workforce. He introduced legislation to help students from diverse backgrounds find jobs and work experience in STEM fields.”
This piece, by Max Kozlov, Mariana Lenharo, Jeff Tollefson & magazine magazine, adds, “As vice president, Harris oversees the National Space Council, which is charged with advising the president on US space policy and strategy. Under Harris’ leadership, the agency has focused on international cooperation, for example with the Artemis project, which aims to send astronauts to the Moon.”
One of Harris’ most famous contributions to the field of astronomy and space exploration was a much-mocked video of him talking to children about the universe in 2021.
In the viral video, which was meant to encourage children’s passion for space, Harris promoted child actors on the topic, saying things like, “You’ll see the craters on the moon with your own eyes !” and “I just love the idea of exploring the unknown.”

Indie journalist Christina Buttons complained, “I’m ashamed I ever subscribed to this magazine.”
Author Jennifer Sey criticized the article, writing, “I’m the daughter of a pediatrician. No one seemed to care when I argued that children were being harmed by the Covid restrictions. And they didn’t. should do so. My father’s wisdom was nothing. about what will happen to the children of isolation.”
GOP Rep. Matt Whitlock countered the site’s piece on the site’s video of Harris’ “cringe,” saying, “We’ve seen the ‘lifelong habit of Kamala Harris’ on full display when they hired child actors to talk to him about the place.
Conservative spokesman Jonah Goldberg asked, “Hey @sciam, what do you make of Trump’s claims that he understands science because his uncle was a physicist at MIT?”
Ophthalmologist and PhD researcher Dr. David Hemmati commented, “A surprising piece in Scientific American stating that because her mother researched cancer, Kamala Harris would ‘bring a lifetime of knowledge and science to the president.’ This high-profile video produced by NASA with paid child actors (and many others) would say otherwise.”
He added, “This magazine loses a lot of credibility for saying this. Let’s stick to facts, not politics.”
